A year of life after life

A year ago today, I reached the end of my road at dusk, at the top of a steep driveway in Eastern Tennessee.

I feel like this at least warrants a remark. I have things that I could say about the year that has followed (almost all good things), but the happenstance of today hasn’t left me with a lot of time to write.

I tell you what: if there’s anything you’re curious about—e.g. questions about a year of Tennessee life, or about adjusting to a new normal, or about about what comes next—feel free to ask.

Otherwise, here, look at some rocks and some water.

  2. Why have you moved?

  3. Avid, very curious as to your overall conclusions. Second thoughts? Regrets? Pure happiness? Ever feel lonely? Revel in the solitude?

    1. No second thoughts. There’s like one farm market slash cafe that I really loved back in PA and I miss it from time to time. But our new location is so superior on every axis – from the proximity to the Smokies, to the vastly better selection of nearby restaurants, to the fact that there are roughly 10x as many things for our kids to do. And Knoxville is a far better city to live 45 minutes from than either York or Baltimore.

Not lonely at all – I grew up in the deep woods, and being surrounded by neighbors for twenty years was like constant nails on a chalkboard for me. I know where to find humans if I need them 😀
