It’s a small but striking memorial. The bell tower at the end of the walk has a different freedom emblazoned on each face; I was a little surprised (and pleased) to see “freedom from want” and “freedom from fear” on two of the sides. We don’t emphasize those as much as we could in this country.
Full disclosure: walking through the memorial, it was sometimes hard not to feel that I’d stepped into a VNV Nation album cover.
Saturday we took the kids and the pup to Mountain Hounds, and then took a walk in the woods. I’m still kind of floored by the kind of scenery that’s now within day-tripping distance.
It seems like anywhere we drive now involves scenes like this.

A greyhound convention is the quietest and most dignified dog meetup you will ever attend.

Our first visit to Dollywood. I was too busy juggling children to take many pictures.
