Boring Political Speculation

So how many of you think that Bush will announce a new running mate at the Republican National Convention? How many think it will be John McCain?.

Personally, I’m thinking that Cheney’s being replaced is seeming more and more likely. He’s political deadweight, and his recent parting-of-ways with Bush over gay marriage suggests that he’s seen the writing on the wall, and has nothing to lose.

Dunno how I feel about a Bush-McCain ticket. It would certainly improve Bush’s chances of winning, but it’s hard to imagine those two getting along. It would certainly give the RNC a golden opportunity to keep the White House in 2008 though. I can’t summon up any eagerness for that prospect; the only recent accomplishment of McCain’s that I’m aware of is that hideous campaign-finance “reform” bill. On the other hand, the mere fact that he’s a moderate who’s respected on both sides of the aisle might do a lot towards cooling the political climate. Which would be a welcome respite…

I haven’t watched the news in a long time. What is going on with that??

  2. McCain is a thorn in the republican’s side. The only way I see him being lifted to that position is to try and limit the damage factor he causes, because once he *is* the person making the decisions, he will no longer be that yapping mutt that threatens to defect to the other party.

  3. Yes… the political “atmosphere” has been quite stifling lately.

Can’t we all just get along? šŸ˜‰
