I had a pretty nice weekend, how about you?
Thursday: sent avivahg to Ascension while I stayed home with the chilluns.
Friday: not much.
Saturday: Tagged along with shadowandlight, predestinedsoul, and a friend of hers, for holiday shopping. Decided after a few hours that Christians have dirty minds and aren’t fit for polite company 😉
Sunday we went to a screening of Shalom Ireland, a documentary about the tiny Jewish community in Ireland. Very interesting. One of the people interviewed lent some more credence to a theory I’ve heard before, that one of the lost Tribes of Israel migrated to Ireland. Certainly Jews have a very long history in that country, albeit never as a large group. One interesting point was that antisemitism has never gained a real foothold in Ireland. There was one outbreak in Limerick, instigated by a preacher who revived the old blood-libel, which culminated in some violence; but the authorities sharply cracked-down on it, and it failed to spread. Indeed, some Jews were closely involved in Ireland’s politics and government. On the other hand, Ireland like other countries refused entry to almost all Jewish refugees of the German Holocaust during WWII. It was not made clear in the film why this was.

[[[Took you a few hours to gather that knowledge? I could have told you in 5 minutes. Virgins have the kinkiest minds and they only get kinkier with age. *lol*]]]
“that one of the lost Tribes of Israel migrated to Ireland”
[[[I actually lean more to the diaspora concept (and I might be completely wrong in my understanding but as I’ve understood it) as the term “lost tribes of Israel” is misleading. Makes people think there was a 13th tribe (outside of the Levi/Joseph, Mannessah/Ephraim variances)or more. When in reality it was about the loss of the kingdom of Israel. Then taken by Assyrians, Babylonians, etc. And dispersed throughout the kingdoms. And yes, I do believe it is possible and probably Jews wound up in Ireland early on. Or actually, wouldn’t Hebrews be a more correct term and Jews really refer to Judaens. (Of course Jacob/Israel was the father of Judah. And all Jews(Judaens) are Israeli. But not all Israelis are Jewish if you were to look at it from that angle. But now I’m bickering over semantics.
The point being the lost tribes were not like a uniform meandering around the continent group. It’s not like a whole tribe picked up and left. Although we know they were scattered. I think it’s interesting that you can find a Jewish population in almost every region/culture of the world. India has a Jewish population. Ethiopia. S. America. I think that is a testimony in and of itself.

What did you really expect out of those two.
And you know what’s weird? I was thinking about calling you to ask if you wanted to go, but figured if you’d wanted to, you would have called. :-/
What did I say? THEY were the ones being dirty! Jay still has mud on his face!
