I’m a one-man ghostbuster

Went ghost-hunting in Gettysburg with shadowandlight last night. I failed to mention to him beforehand that I am a walking paranormal-free zone. I’ve never experienced anything inexplicable or spooky in my life. No black helicopters, no UFOs, no poltergeists, no stomping in the attic, nothing. Needless to say, we saw nothing out of the ordinary.

Which is not to say it was a wasted trip. Not at all. The battlefields at dusk and after on an overcast, rainy night were beautiful. The air was sweetly perfumed with the aroma of growing things and the damp earth. The sprinkling rain was a soft, cool caress. And if you let your eyes get used to it, everything was lit by the faint blue glow of the sky. It was very peaceful.

Afterwards we stopped at the Ragged Edge for coffee, I love that place, but it makes me sad at the same time. It’s the coffeehouse I always wanted to live near, but never did. I wonder how my life might have been different if I had had a place like that… I think I probably would have had a lot more friends in my teens. Then again, I might have wound up with a scruffy emo haircut. So I guess I dodged a bullet there.

Once home we changed our clothes and had a lengthy midnight Tang Soo Do lesson. I got to play with a staff (well, bamboo pole) this time! It was tiring but very rewarding. I’m really digging this stuff. The close link with meditation practice is… timely.

Finally, watched shadowandlight play The Suffering for a couple hours. That is a deeply creepy game. But interesting. I also introduced him to Mackeson XXX Stout, which seemed to go over rather well 😀

Didn’t get to bed ’till 4:30 or so. Today: entertaining the kids while avivahg goes to a baby shower. First priority is fixing the swing. Possibly taking them to the Glen Rock street fair too.

  1. Glad to hear you’re practicing a martial art. Hope that opens a whole world of interest for you.

Yea, I did the search for the paranormal for years, and it took years before I finally saw something. I’ve only had one unambiguous UFO siting and it’s definitely made me think. As far as ghosts; well, I’ve seen things I can’t readily explain and I doubt I will ever find a satisfactory explanation.

  3. Stopped at Antietam

    recently.
Apparently, there was a great^5 uncle among the unfortunate there.
The James Earl Jones-narrated movie on that should be required viewing for all leaders. That sort of senseless death is to be avoided. Maybe you could turn into a romancebuster, and roam within the beltway, ensuring the leadership retains focus.
