Lame political post… move along…

What in the hell are they thinking? All I can say, folks, is if the Dems nominate Hillary in ’08, they have only themselves to blame when they lose. That’s not a comment on her suitability, just her electability. You think Bush-hatred is rabid? It won’t hold a candle to Hillary-hatred.

  1. unfortunately, even though I really like her a lot, I have to agree with you there. But to be honest? I feel that she is just as a powerful candidate as Kerry was (which was not all that great I guess)

  3. You got a better democrat to suggest?

    1. John McCain. Confining “better” to mean better electability, of course.

Really, almost anyone would be better than Hillary. Those red-state voters that everyone blamed for the ’04 election? They hate her. She’s a one-woman conservative mobilization machine.

      1. Uhh. . .I agree with the McCain bit, but unfortunately for the Democrats, he’s a Republican 😉

        1. It’s hard to tell sometimes… and I hear Hillary used to be a Democrat, but these days she’s war-boosting and telling the pro-choice people that maybe they were wrong about some things…

          1. (like my reply below)

Hillary is trying hard to create a new image for herself. Genuine or not? I tend to distrust that crew as folks who do and say anything they think they have to to attain power.

I guess that goes for just about anybody in Washington now…

          2. I don’t trust any politician further than I can throw them; but Hillary in particular I see as about the most transparently opportunistic as they get.

          3. I trust politicians about as far as I can throw a kleenix in a hurricane.

  5. I think…

Hilary–as you also note–would actually be a pretty decent president.. she’s a lot less radical than people think–as it was noted that she and Newt Gingrich have been working together…

But I do agree.. I don’t think she could get elected yet… Actually, i don’t think any woman could get elected yet.. If the republicans ran a woman–those red-staters would also throw fits…

Personally.. I hope she doesn’t run.. What the democrats need is not just 1 good presidential candidate.. but rather they need to rebuild their positions in all parts of gov’t.. and too often it seems like whenever any new “good” democrat shows up anyplace.. many democratic supporters want them to just jump in to become president… So short-sighted.. I mean really.. if the Dems had worked harder at creating a solid message and unifying principle after the Republicans trashed them in 1994–by at least 2004 they would have had a real chance of taking back the legislative branches of Congress–and then the re-election of Bush wouldn’t really have meant much of anything..

So.. I hope Hillary stays in the Senate.. actually.. it would be good for her to become head of the Senate.. there she could do a lot more good than just tyring to be the democratic President with a legislative branch that would spite her at every step of the way…

ps–Don’t believe the British press on this.. they’re just engaging in Wishful thinking… and I’ve been following this story for a while.. personally.. I think the Republicans are forming this committee “in advance” just to rile up their own troops… Hillary really hasn’t done that much to make herself the next dem candidate.. but the Repubs know they can get a lot of “democrat-bashing-press” by trying to make her the candidate…

    1. Re: I think…

It’s not really the British press… I mean, it’s Andrew Sullivan writing in a British paper.

    3. Re: I think…

conventional wisdom is that Hillary has been working hard to change her image, trying to appeal more to the center/right.

That hardly means that she is really a centrist, is says she knows what it will take to win and acts accordingly.

      1. Re: I think…

I wouldn’t accuse Hillary of having any ideology but power.
Which I don’t mean over-critically; I respect her intelligence more than that of her hubby.
But the earlier remark about her being a one-person conservative mobilization machine is right.
Now, her against Ross Perot makes an interesting thought-experiment. I daresay I might vote for her in that race. Hmmm.

  7. it all depends on what other lousy choices we wind up being presented with.

    Other interesting idea…
Bill Clinton has been stumping to be appointed head of the UN. Just imagine..,President Hillary and Billy Bob head of the UN…what fun will ensue?

  9. I’m planning on starting my own “Bull Moose” party. Anyone want to shoot me?

    1. No bullets for you

Unless you are caught telling the truth. Then it’s swiss cheese, kiddo.
