And now for a somewhat more informative update…

Today I am twenty-five. I’m sort of riding a knife-edge, emotionally. Birthdays have always been a big deal to me, bigger than most holidays. On the one hand, it’s been a really good weekend so far, with a lot of fun had with family and friends. There’s been dancing at Heathcote, BBQ and hiking and fireworks at my grandmother’s; more BBQ and fireworks at my mom’s; and a visit from our dear friend iq2hi4uok. On the other hand, on this birthday which I’ve been anticipating rather more than most, I’m feeling a little like my family have been the only people to take any notice, and I’m afraid that I won’t be seeing a lot of you at my party this weekend. We shall see…

Today I’m probably just going to be getting stuff done around the house. If I’m very lucky we’ll find a way to see Batman Begins; but right now it looks like the kids are going to keep that from happening.

Trying to stay positive… trying to stay positive… trying… trying…

Part of me just wants to jump in the car and point towards mountains… but the other part of me says I’ve been driving all weekend, and can I please have a break?

The girl who sold me soda at Sheetz last night had several long, parallel cuts on the inside of each forearm. I told her I hoped things get better. I feel like I haven’t been doing enough to fight the Beast and carry the wounded lately. I know I can’t save the world, but it’s been too long since I tried…

  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
    When is your party?

    1. Sunday, July 10th, from 3 PM on.

I chose Sunday rather than Saturday so you’d have a chance to make it.

  3. Though I’m very happy to help others celebrate their birthdays, my own birthdays have meant virtually nothing to me since I was very young. Now, my birthdays whiz by at a seemingly increasing rate, and I find myself just happy to be alive one…more…day.

I wish you much happiness and many, many, many more birthdays with good health, surrounded by lots of love.

  4. i want to be there…

i really want to come to your birthday party, but i’m photographing and ‘s wedding on saturday at the eastern shore. we’re going to try to get back early enough on sunday to drive up, but if we don’t make it, it’s not because we don’t want to be with you on your special day. have a wonderful week and don’t exhaust yourself trying to save the world. it will still be here next week. maybe this week, you should focus on yourself a bit. you deserve it. =)

It’s from 3PM until whenever. If you show up late, all is well. Just show up!! πŸ˜‰

  5. Avdi,
I sincerely hope this day is a good one for you.
May you be surrounded by love, happiness, and good spirits throughout the day, and beyond.
Sometimes you can’t save the world, but you can do a lot to improve your little corner of it. Knowing what I know of you just by LJ, I suspect you’ve already done that.
    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

  6. Happy birthday. πŸ™‚

For the record, I’d have been happy to drive at some point yesterday, but it seemed kind of important that whoever was driving be someone who actually knew where they were going. πŸ˜‰

    Happy Birthday.

Sometimes you don’t have to save the world, sometimes you do. I’m sure that just a simple comment that someone cared meant a lot to that girl.
