They reveal the horrible: For 90 minutes on Hitler’s birthday, a prisoner was shot every two minutes as a gift to the Führer. They tell the mundane: Lice on prisoners were counted and classified as small, medium and large.

What I didn’t link to, but probably should have, was the story I read around the same time by the African girl who didn’t learn about the Holocaust until she was 24 and went to a western school – and then was assured by her non-western-educated sister that it was all just a nasty lie spread by the nefarious Jooos. Whom she prayed would one day be exterminated by Allah.
Nothing that shocking there, but the kicker was that this was from someone [the sister] who had never met or seen a Jew in her life.

I dated a Jewish Girl my freshmen year there (oh, the travesty, an ex-catholic atheist and a jew together!!!) and I got to here a story about her dormmate heather that blew my mind.. Esther didn’t know heather before they got to college, but they seemed to get along fine and they became friends and remained so throughout all of college… however, within the first 3 weeks of living together, religious beliefs somehow came up and Esther told Heather–a highly school educated girl from Palantine (relatively wealthy post 1950’s boom suburb of Chicago)–that she was jewish.
heather then proceeded to look at her funny and then asked her–and this was totally serious– “Where are your horns?” In confusion and shock, Esther asked her what she was talking about, and heather explained that she had been raised to believe that Jews had horns (she was conservative protestant–although not fundie, I believe)…
Esther, of course, set her straight.. but it does boggle the mind that even in Chicago–where there are hundreds of thousands of Jews living all over the place… that in the early 1990’s educated people (heather was going into Vet school, which is hard as hell to do) still could hold such totally ludicrous ideas.

It’s obvious to any thinking person that the reason that it took them 50 years to release this “evidence” is that it took the Jews 50 years to fabricate all this.

And people want us to “understand” & “relate” to these people. Look, I don’t want to understand people who dismiss the holocaust, who believe a woman need 4 male witnesses otherwise it was adultery not rape, or people who feel that the best way to deal with your sister being raped by your step-brother is to kill your sister since obviously she was tempting him.

I want to see them change their understanding. And if that can’t be done….then I want to see their understanding destroyed completely.
alas…I am evil…because I am unwilling to understand them as Hollywood celebrities keep telling me I should. But I don’t want to undertand that.
I am willing understand a muslim, an Arab, or anyone else who is fair and just. But those are some of the most injust actions ever perpetrated on another human being. I refuse to understand. I’d rather die. I’d even rather kill than understand many of those practices.
