Whew… good weekend. Spent much of it shuttling between home and the Black Rock Burn, where I hung out with a bunch of very cool folks who play with fire for fun. Drummed, danced around the bonfire, watched beautiful half-naked men and women “spin poi” – twirl flaming brands around their bodies in intricate patterns. Shared my guitar with a girl whose ex-boyfriend had destroyed all her guitars just before the festival. Learned basic poi-spinning moves from a guy who hitchhiked there from New York. Wrote a bit, and then lost my journal.
And spent a lot of time just meditating on the top of the hill, listening to the sound of the wind in the weeds and the song of the insects. I feel spiritually refreshed in ways I haven’t for a long time.
Also found time to hang out with both my mom and my dad. Dad brought me back a new drum from India!
And somewhere in all of this I reached a new level of clarity and resolution about who I am, and how I am going to live my life. This lead to some heart-to-heart conversations with Stacey, the upshot of which is that I believe we are now more in accord than we have been since perhaps the beginning of our relationship.
I love my wife very much, and I’m looking forward to the amazing things we will create together.
Congratulations! I’m glad things are working out for you! Hugs for both of you! Lots of exclamation points!!!1!won
