As c4bl3fl4m3 correctly pointed out, it’s Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.  I cropped it out of this larger scan:

This is one of those photos that I just don’t know how to feel about.  It’s at once powerful and creepy.  Something about welcoming our new overlords…  It’s almost – dare I say it – Nazi in it’s esthetic.  Although one must never forget that the Nazis would have gladly gassed her regardless of how many degrees she holds.  Race and sex are no longer factors in selecting the ruling class.  It’s all about connections.

All that deconstruction aside, it’s a damn hot outfit.

  1. You know…I wonder if she’s a closet goth….?

Great, now we’re going to see a bunch of slash stories of Condi Rice as BDSM/fetish girl….

    *lol*

Did you see the knee high boots…you can’t tell me we’re not on to something Avdi.

    1. It’s like that photo I posted of the Ukrainian Prime Minister the other day. Seems as if there’s a new wave of fashion in elite circles. Modest/conservative is out, and powerful women are now dressing to kill. So to speak. Dunno what it means, but it makes for some good eye candy.

      1. woman are going to enslave mankind…

        oh wait…they’ve already done that…

        *lol*

  2. How fortunate for leaders that men do not think.
    -Adolf Hitler

The great strength of the totalitarian state is that it forces those who fear it to imitate it.

Every nation in every region now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists.
    -George W. Bush

I have often thought that if a rational Fascist dictatorship were to exist, then it would choose the American system.
    -Noam Chomsky

    1. You had me until you quoted Chomsky ๐Ÿ˜›

      1. I only quoted Chomsky ’cause that quote totally wraps up the trail the previous quotes laid.

*shrug* I thought it fit, regardless of who/what Chomsky was.

        1. It’s a good collection of quotes.

          1. Actually

It strikes me as a excellent exampleo of how little quotes tell us.

The Dubya = Hitler line is so silly, and so tired. I don’t know who it shows more ignorance of, Dubya or Hitler.

One merely has to read their speeches to see one is dealing with very different political leaders with very different aims and, shock horror, different techniques.

  3. yes you pegged it, it looked very naziesque at first glance.

    and yes, great outfit.

    1. The funny thing about that is that it’s a reminder of just how attractive the esthetic and iconography of Nazism was.

      1. well ofcourse anything that is empirical or somehow done up seems that way.

I mean the Matrix is attractive and they have that type of pompous look.

Also you can take the most average person and have a bunch of people staring at them and for a second they actually look important.

      2. Recall Solomon

There is no new thing under the sun.
I think it’s a pointer to something fundamental.
        Demonic ass-clowns happen.

  4. The Nazis were butchers.

What is traditionally considered to be the Nazi aesthetic was breathtakingly gorgeous.

The more governments that adopt it, the better. I do wish it were the case with ours.

    1. They did have the best uniforms, that’s for sure.

  5. I wouldn’t have noticed the Nazi symbolism. It made me think of Cake’s Short Skirt Long Jacket.

  6. Are you saying

    Condi’s a feminazi? Not a common accusation … ๐Ÿ™‚

And the Nazis were working on deeper cultural references. Power and dominance has certain common resonances.
