Edgy Eft, and Photos

Last night I started the upgrade from Ubuntu Dapper Drake to Edgy Eft.  Worst upgrade ever.  One of the things I always valued about Debian and Debian-derived distros was their rediculously easy upgrades.  In fact, that was one of the biggest reasons I moved from Mandrake way back in the day, because I was sick of doing what was essentially a full reinstall with every release.  Well, the Edgy upgrade managed to completely hose my system, leaving it in a half-configured state and refusing to continue the upgrade due to cryptic errors.  I am extremely dissappointed; Ubuntu was supposed to make Debian easy enough for the desktop, not fuck up the things which work best in Debian.

In other news, I’ve been going through my digital photo archive for the last few years, categorizing and consolidating.  My intention has been to start uploading selections from my archive to Flickr.  I uploaded a few last night; yuo can see one of them above.  Click on it for the rest.  Unfortunately, with my computer in the state it’s in, I don’t know when I’ll next be able to upload more.
