  1. The Obama White house will not welcome the Dalai Lama on the eve of their diplomatic visit to China, for political reasons. Neither would the republican White Houses if such events had coincided so closely… don’t be fooled.
It sucks, that we have to pander to China, but we have a long history of doing so… appearently communism and conquering is only evil if it is not directly affecting our economy…

  2. Meh. What said.

Also, am I the only person in the world who finds the whole “Free Tibet” thing an ironic and hilarious calling card for a Buddhist theocracy?

I’m not maligning the Dalai Lama or anything, but Buddhism is a religion, not a political establishment, and there is no reason to treat it like a political establishment. Telling the Dalai Lama to visit later is kind of like me calling you and saying “I forgot I had a business meeting, can we reschedule lunch?” You are my friend, not another business associate I am blowing off in favor of another. I can call you anytime, but this business meeting only happens once.

The Dalai Lama is our friend. We can call him anytime. Our social secretary just screwed up and forgot about our business meeting. There is no reason for anyone to assume this is a personal slight to the Dalai Lama.
