We visited the Smoky Mountain Heritage Center, where K and E learned all about the history of the area, including Native American history and the settler lifestyle.
We saw a steam engine. An engine like this could run a whole shop from those big flywheels.
Then we had barbecue. Note the active smoker out front. A good sign.
Stacey and I had a “rack of ribs for two”. They had neglected to specify for two of what. My guess: adult tyrannosaurs.
Sweet tea was served traditionally, in large mason jars.
After lunch I needed some exercise, so I went for a ramble around the property.
The very steep property.
There’s a tiny trickle of a stream at the bottom of the hill.
This is what our land looks like. At least, I think this is ours. I haven’t traced out the property lines yet.
I found an old logging road. Or maybe a road that was used for construction of the (few) houses up here.
