Hanukkah comes early

I’d heard good things about The Prestige, the book. Then I saw they’d made a movie of it. Now I learn that it’s directed by Chris Nolan, one of my favorite directors, and stars Christian Bale, one of my favorite actors. Instant must-see. But that’s not all. Oh, no.

It’s also got…

…omg…

!@*&ing David Bowie as @#*!ing Nikola Tesla.

Permit me a moment of utter nerdy fanboy glee.

*dies*

Oh, and Scarlett Johansson, just to round things out.

    1. I know, right? Androgynous hotness meets wizardly genius hotness.

  1. I am taking my Mom to see it. And I must say the parts that I have snuck in to see are Fab.

    1. Come to think of it, I’ll bet my mom would like it too.

  2. Extremely good movie, I highly recommend.

David Bowie has a much larger part than I anticipated, and he does it well.

      Better and better…

  3. It’s an AWESOME movie!! I *loved* it. And yeah…the Bowie. And the Tesla. Oh the awesomeness.

    1. Re: your icon

Any film-geeky insights about the movie?

  4. Scarlett Johansson

Noticing a woman’s mouth is kind of unusual for me.
Maybe it was the B&W treatment of The Man Who Wasn’t There that makes her kisser unforgettable…

Hm, I’d forgotten she was in that. Another good movie.

  5. Oh, we squealed like little fangirls. Both of us. Believe me. ^^

    1. Grr. That was me. I didn’t realize I was logged out.

      1. Your QC icon is ironic. ‘Cause, I mean, Rand really wasn’t that much of a pragmatist when you get right down to it. At least philosophically speaking. Right?

  6. Yes, it was amazing! We see a movie (in a theater) once every three months or so, and is was definitely worth it. I was theorizing sub-plots for days thereafter.

    1. Maybe it’s time for one of my rare theatre visits…

  7. He’s a pretty fascinating guy. What’s your connection?
